Admissions Requirements

The MAIA program accepts rolling admissions. Interested students may apply to the program at any time. 

Domestic students interested in applying to the Master of Arts in International Administration program should submit the following:

  • Online application form
  • $85.00 non-refundable application fee paid online upon submission of the application. 
  • Statement of purpose
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • One letter from a professor/faculty member.
  • Two letters preferably from an employer, colleague, or professional source.
  • Official transcripts from each post-secondary institution attended.
  • An acceptable undergraduate grade point average (GPA). The GPA of the typical applicant is at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores.* Our GRE school code is 5815.
  • Resume (if available)

All applicants to the University of Miami's Master of Arts in International Administration (MAIA) program must take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE); GMAT and LSAT scores are also accepted. Those who hold a Masters or Ph.D. degree from an accredited institution of higher education are exempt from this requirement. Professional experience will also be taken into account. Applicants that have ten or more years of relevant administrative professional work experience may be eligible for a waiver. Each application is individually reviewed and eligibility for a waiver remains at the discretion of the MAIA Program Director. Please submit a current resume for review. 

Statement of Purpose

The statement of purpose is the most important element of your application packet. This letter needs to reflect who you are, your goals and why you would be an asset to the MAIA program. It is very important to ensure it is grammatically correct and as detailed as possible. The statement of purpose should be no more than two pages in length. Below is a link to help you get started.
